Memory types used in data carriers
The memory types used by Balluff are:
1. Read only tags:
ROM - Read Only Memory
- Coded with the 2xx in the case of the inductive coupling units, particularly only for the BIS L family (e.g., BIS L-200-03 / L).
- This data carrier has a longer reading range since there is no write operation that requires more energy.
2. Read/write tags:
EEPROM - Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory
- These tags contain no battery and data retention time is 10 years.
- There is a limited number of write to the tag:
- From 1,000,000 writes for a BIS C tag to 100,000 writes for a BIS L; BIS M or BIS U tags.
EPROM - Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory
- These tags contain no battery and data retention time is 10 years.
- These tags have virtually no limitation on writes.
