This is usually the first main reason for considering IO-Link.

A various array of IO-Link devices can help in expanding/ extending a network thereby saving cost and available addresses.

There are several options:

1. Open Leads
   This is the simplest expansion possible. 1 port on the IO-Link Master network block can connect to up to 16 I/O’s using open leads.
2.   IP20 Hubs
   This is the next best solution. 1 port on the IO-Link Master network block can connect to up to 16 I/O’s using terminal blocks in DIN rail mounting.
3. IP67 & 69 Hubs
   This is a good option for mounting the expansion hub directly in the field. A variety of configurations in different housing materials are possible. It is also possible to choose a hub with double expansion for even better economy.
