Principles of guided radar sensors
Guided radar sensors can be used for level measurement in liquids and solids.
The guided radar pulses along the probe ensure a precise and stable measurement even with dust and foam forming media.
High frequency microwave pulses are transmitted along a steel cable or a rod. When impinging on the product surface, the microwave pulses are reflected. The transmitted wave and its reflected time by the medium is evaluated by the device and output as a level value.
The evaluation of the sensor uses a 4-20mA HART-signal. The start and end points of the measuring length depends on the used medium.
