What is an ultrasonic sensor and what are the major applications?

Applications of Ultrasonic Sensors

An ultrasonic sensor emits ultra-high-frequency sound waves.

The target reflects emitted sound waves. The sensor monitors the distance to the target by measuring the time between the emitted and returned sound waves.

They can be used for various applications irrespective of color of the object. Success rate depends up on the reflectivity of the material. Examples of good reflective materials are Still Water, paint, Metal, Glass, plastic.
